Explore Harrison River Valley

Harrison Hot Springs vs. Harrison River Valley

What’s the difference? Great question — most people don’t know either.

Harrison Hot Springs is the village — the place with the lakefront, the public hot springs pool, restaurants, cafés, and the classic “tourist day trip” vibe. It’s lively, walkable, and where most visitors go to hang out by the water.

Harrison River Valley, on the other hand, is the whole region that surrounds it — including Agassiz, Harrison Mills, and all the beautiful farmland, mountains, and quiet countryside in between. This is where you find the hidden gems, the peaceful stays, the farms, the trails, and the real “escape from the city” feeling.

Think of it like this:
Harrison Hot Springs = the busy lakeside village
Harrison River Valley = the calm, scenic countryside around it

Barnhouse Lodge sits in the Harrison River Valley, which means you get the best of both worlds: quiet farm escape + only minutes from
the lake and hot springs.

Harrison Hot Springs Lake

Alex: The magical Harrison Hot Springs lake. Honestly, it’s one of my favorite places in all of B.C. I’ve been exploring this lake since I was a young boy — so many good memories with family and friends visiting from Vancouver.
Now that I live nearby, I still find myself coming back any chance I get. This lake never gets old. It’s peaceful, it’s stunning, and it’s a place that just sticks with you.
Before you hit the lake, make sure to stop by the Tourism Harrison Visitor Centre. It’s a must‑visit for anyone new to the area. You’ll get a quick crash course on the land, the cultural history, local activities, nearby restaurants, hiking trails, and all the hidden gems you don’t want to miss. A little knowledge goes a long way — and it makes exploring the lake even more special.
